ARMD - Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Donald Cameron from cameronoptometry lectured at our Macular Degeneration conference and provided extra-ordinary images using the OCT. This instrument records multiple "slices" through the macular area and generates a 3D composite image enabling us to see underneath the surface to determine if there is evidence of treatable "wet" ARMD. The results can be in 2D or 3D and also in movie format.

Posterior Vitreous Detachment
PVD (Posterior Vitreous Detachment), is a common condition which optometry can expect to increasingly present to our profession as the primary eye care providers. It is a relatively common condition in the elder population, more common with increasing myopia and increasing age. These course notes provide background knowledge relating to the vitreous body and retina. It is also a guide to the examination procedure to diagnose PVD.
